Gordon Castle's walled garden is both ornamental and productive. The eight-acre space is among Britain's oldest and largest kitchen gardens, restored to a contemporary plan by Arne Maynard. Herbs, fruit, vegetables and cut flowers fill the beds, and produce is used by the on-site restaurant or developed into estate products. Because the gardeners continue to sow, train and harvest crops, repeat visits show the working cycle of the garden rather than a fixed display.
