Why visit Branklyn Garden?
John and Dorothy Renton began Branklyn Garden in 1922 on the side of Kinnoull Hill. Seeds collected by plant hunters including George Forrest and Frank Ludlow helped establish its unusual range of alpines, rhododendrons and peat-garden plants. The garden is only two acres, but the collection is concentrated and includes National Collections of Meconopsis and Cassiope. Spring brings dog’s-tooth violets and blue poppies, while Japanese maples and the katsura carry interest into later seasons.
