Best rooms for echeveria
Light requirements
Thrives on a sunny windowsill with several hours of direct sunlight.
Best near a window with filtered light — avoid harsh direct rays.
How to care for echeveria
Maximum sunlight for the most compact, colourful growth. Water sparingly — soak thoroughly then let dry completely. Avoid getting water in the rosette centre, which causes rot. Barely any water in winter. Free-draining cactus compost is essential. Minimum 5°C.
Watering
Let the compost dry out completely between waterings. Roughly every 2–4 weeks.
Propagation
- Leaf cuttings laid on compost surface
- Offsets
Toxicity
This plant is not known to be toxic to cats or dogs.
Common problems
- Etiolation (stretching) in low light
- Rosette rot from water sitting in the centre
