Hyacinthus orientalis 'City of Haarlem'
A soft primrose-yellow hyacinth flowering in April, later than most varieties. The warm buttery colour is unusual among hyacinths and blends well with blue and white spring flowers. Sweetly scented. Named after the Dutch city famous for its bulb industry.

How to grow hyacinthus 'city of haarlem'
Plant 10cm deep in October or November. For the largest flowers, buy 'prepared' bulbs for indoor forcing. In borders, flower size decreases after the first year but plants become more natural-looking. Wear gloves when handling bulbs as they can cause skin irritation.
