Fritillaria uva-vulpis
Fox's grape fritillary is a gem of a bulb producing nodding plum-brown bells edged with golden yellow in March and April. Small and delicate at only 20-30cm but surprisingly easy to grow. Much more reliable than many fritillaries. Excellent for rock gardens and the front of well-drained borders in UK gardens.

Plant 8cm deep in autumn. One of the easiest fritillaries to grow. Thrives in well-drained soil in sun or light shade. Excellent in gravel gardens and raised beds. Inexpensive and widely available.
