The autumn crocus is the only crocus species considered native to the UK, found wild in meadows across northern England. Deep purple flowers appear without leaves in September and October. Spreads by underground stolons forming large colonies. An excellent choice for naturalising in grass in UK gardens.

How to grow crocus nudiflorus

Plant 8cm deep in early summer. Unlike most crocuses, tolerates heavier damper soils. Spreads by stolons to form large colonies. Perfect for naturalising in meadow grass. The only crocus native to Britain.
